Athena Introduces Maestro Process Control Systems to Help Food Processors Get FSMA Compliant
Plymouth Meeting, PA (PRWEB) September 27, 2013 -- Athena Controls Inc. has launched Maestro, a system of affordable temperature controllers, sensors and data recorders for process equipment used to manufacture fast moving consumer packaged goods (FMCG), such as snacks, confectionery, baked goods and prepared foods. These controls are designed to be easily retrofit onto working production lines with minimal downtown or for use by equipment OEMs in new equipment.
The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) was signed into law by President Obama on January 4, 2011. It shifts food supply safety from response to prevention. These regulations will not only impose tighter quality standards, but they will make food manufacturers responsible for collecting and maintaining massive amounts of detailed data on every production run.
“There are many reputable manufacturers out there today that are still collecting data with a pencil and clipboard, and with the new regulations, existing systems will become a drag on efficiency and OEE. “ said Robert Schlegel, president of Athena Controls. “Proper control of process variables, as well as independent validation of these processes, is the key to OEE. Maestro is a cost-effective way to get compliant and improve overall operational efficiency right now.”
Maestro systems allow users to manage temperature, power consumption, and other variables. Recorders collect and store process data in a choice of formats, open CSV format or secure check-summed format for data integrity. These products communicate easily with existing modbus factory floor networks.
Athena has launched a dedicated website for Maestro products and FSMA information at http://www.athenamaestro.com.
