Attorney Charles Boyk Shares Tips on the Prevention of Drinking and Driving this Independence Day
Toledo, OH (PRWEB) July 01, 2013 -- July 4th celebrations usually involve food, family, fireworks, and alcohol. It is imperative for those that drink alcohol to either have a designated driver, or know when they must stop to be sober for their travels.
Attorney Charles Boyk would like to share the below tips on how you can help to prevent your loved ones from drinking and driving. If you are able to stop just one person from getting behind the wheel, you can possibly help to save a life.
Helping to Prevent Drunk Driving:
• If the individual who is under the influence is a close friend or family member, approach them in a calm manner. Suggest that they should catch a ride with a friend, or maybe call a cab.
• Remain calm and try to lighten up the situation.
• Make your suggestion sound as though you are doing them a favor.
• If the individual is a close friend or significant other, tell them that if they are going to drive, you are not going to go with them.
• Find the person’s keys and take them away. They may think that they misplaced them and will be forced to find another way home.
• Do your best to avoid embarrassing the person.
“If you have the opportunity to prevent your friend or family member from getting behind the wheel after drinking, please do so. I have seen the repercussions of drunk driving and it is not something to be taken lightly,” said Attorney Boyk.
