Avid Collector Announces His Search For Original 1967 Jim Morrison and The Doors Balboa Stadium San Diego Concert Poster
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) May 31, 2016 -- Avid collector, Andrew Hawley from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for original 1967 Jim Morrison and the Doors Balboa Stadium San Diego Concert Poster. Believe it or not this concert had a corporate sponsor - Chicken of the Sea. The concert was held on July 8. According to Hawley, “This unique poster was designed locally and features mermaids mimicking the Chicken of the Sea tuna label. Here is a bit of trivia. The blonde mermaid on the Chicken of the Sea can was modeled by Grace Lee Whitney. She played Yeoman Janice Rand in the original Star Trek TV series. Also, Jim Morrison went to elementary school in San Diego since his father was an admiral in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Coronado. Concert goers could get a discount on their tickets if they brought in Chicken of the Sea can labels. The Doors would only play Balboa Stadium once.”

Hawley adds, "The poster was printed on thick paper stock. The psychedelic layout has a large orange strip at the bottom of the poster where concert information was printed. The same poster was used to advertise the Doors concert the following week in Sacramento. However, the corporate sponsor for the Sacramento show was another tuna company - White Star Tuna."
If you have an original Jim Morrison and The Doors Balboa Stadium San Diego concert poster, Hawley is willing to pay $3,000 cash for it. He is also seeking authentic 1967-1970 the Doors concert posters. Please call 310-346-1965 or email andrew (at) vintageconcertposterbuyer.com.
