(PRWEB UK) 8 November 2013 -- London and New York-based marketing capability consultancy Brand Learning was recognised last night as one of the UK’s leading progressive employers in the Top Employer Awards 2013, run by http://www.workingmums.co.uk/ and sponsored by Unilever and McDonald’s among others.
Brand Learning was awarded first place in the Top Employer Award for SME Companies (26-250 employees). The category recognises companies that demonstrate a real commitment to ‘work-life balance’ employment practices that specifically help working parents, such as flexible working, support on return to work from maternity leave and career development.
In addition, Brand Learning was shortlisted in the ‘Talent Attraction’ category, which recognises organisations that demonstrate recruitment practices which openly promote flexible working.
The company picked up the accolade at a ceremony held at The Soho Hotel with a keynote address given by Jo Swinson, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Women and Equalities and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Employment Relations and Consumer Affairs.
Michele McGrath, chief operating officer of Brand Learning, comments: “We value and appreciate the link between flexibility, engagement, well-being and performance. Our flexible working policies are central to our effectiveness as a business and help make Brand Learning a great place to work - especially for directors, both men and women who support 120 multinational clients and so travel extensively across the world. We are very honoured to be recognised for our efforts by this 'Top Employer' Award.”
Gillian Nissim, founder of Workingmums.co.uk, says: “The standard of entries is very high this year and they allow us to spread the word about the innovative practices these businesses employ so that others can be inspired by them. These employers fully understand that businesses need to recruit and retain talented female staff and go out of their way to back that up with action.”
