Chargebacks911 Touts Benefits of Exercise Related to Workplace Productivity—Company Conquers “Tough Mudder” Event
Tampa Bay, FL (PRWEB) December 09, 2013 -- Many U.S. companies are beginning to embrace the idea of “workplace wellness,” with 94 percent of businesses with 200 or more workers implementing wellness programs that encourage employees to take better care of their health (1). Inspired by the reported benefits of exercise on overall health and workplace productivity, dispute mitigation company Chargebacks911 instituted a company-wide fitness program, which recently culminated in staff members participating in the Tough Mudder obstacle course. Twelve Chargebacks911 employees ran the course on Nov. 2, 2013 in River Ranch, Florida.
As an industry that faces tough deadlines in a fast-paced and often-changing digital environment, dispute mitigation is not for the faint of heart—striving to deliver quality service can often mean long hours or stressful conditions, a trend that could lead to employee fatigue. After noticing two years ago that the only coping mechanisms employees had for adapting to the workload were high amounts of caffeine, sugary foods and longer work hours, Chargebacks911 co-founder Monica Eaton-Cardone launched an effort to increase employee well-being with an in-house fitness blog. After researching the benefits of exercise related to workplace productivity, Eaton-Cardone hired a personal trainer who provided each staff member with two or three workout sessions per week at no cost.
“We wanted to help balance the workload and alleviate any burnout syndrome in a healthy way. Adding a fitness component was the most logical way to show staff members that we not only appreciate their work and contributions to the company, but that we value them as people, as well,” said Eaton-Cardone.
Despite an initial period of low energy among employees and lagging production following implementation of the new concept, Eaton-Cardone kept the exercise program in place, and over time, the results were impressive:
● The team as a whole lost over 100 pounds;
● Employees began coming to work earlier and working more efficiently;
● Higher confidence levels manifested into greater leadership;
● Eating habits changed and people had more energy; and
● Morale was boosted and positive attitudes thrived.
The findings directly correlate to studies that show fit employees are happier and smarter, and possess more physical and mental energy than those who forego exercise (2). Eaton-Cardone says the company has continued the effort after deciding that the initial test period paid off and proved to be worth the investment. The success of the program led to Eaton-Cardone and her staff recently joining the Tough Mudder obstacle course event to test the strength of their increased fitness levels. The Tough Mudder is an intense, 10-12 mile, military-style obstacle course renowned as one of the most hardcore challenges in the world—the course tests participants’ all-around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie. The Chargebacks911 staff members rallied together and completed the course as a team in five hours.
“The Tough Mudder reminded us of the power of teamwork and cemented the fact that company wellness is not an option, but an essential,” said Eaton-Cardone. “A healthy team means a happy and productive team, which translates into high-quality results for our clients.”
Eaton-Cardone, a former ecommerce retailer, formed Chargebacks911 to relieve merchants of the burden of handling chargebacks. After her own trial and error in experiences with chargeback issues and seeing a void in the industry, Eaton-Cardone started her own dispute mitigation firm to provide fast and reliable services that not only help to recoup the loss of funds as a result of increasing chargebacks, but to also curb future chargebacks so that merchants retain all processing abilities. Chargebacks911 is headquartered in Tampa Bay. Eaton-Cardone is regularly quoted in the press on issues concerning chargebacks that are plaguing the ecommerce industry.
