Clinical Study Shows Wearable Technology Garment Correlates with Gold Standard ECG Electrodes
Tel Aviv, Israel (PRWEB) November 07, 2014 -- A recent clinical study in Haifa’s Ramban Medical Center of HealthWatch’s smart textile hWear™ garment concluded that ECG signal quality was medically similar to those measured on a gold-standard ECG machine using traditional gel electrodes.
The study was conducted on 15 patients ranging in age from 31 to 82 and in weight from 70 to 135 kg in which both objective and subjective parameters were recorded. Statistics showed the quality of ECG obtained from the textile garments to be well correlated with all measured parameters compared to the gold standard ECG. Physicians, nurses, and patients overwhelmingly praised the garment for its ease in standard electrode placement, quick preparation, and equivalence in reading the actual ECG signals.
“The patient and medical staff feedback we received was pleasantly surprising showing us that ordinary textile garments could be used in a clinical environment,” said Dr. Robert Zuckerman, Cardiology Intensive Care, Ramban Medical Center.
“We have been able to show both objectively and subjectively that patients prefer wearing a normal everyday textile garment to the rigorous procedure of applying electrodes without sacrificing medical accuracy,” said Uri Amir, CEO HealthWatch Ltd.
HealthWatch's hWear™ -- the digital, heart-sensing garment incorporating interwoven textile electrodes – detecting true 3-to-15 lead ECG signals at rest and in motion. These t-shirts enable continuous ECG telemonitoring via smartphone applications with no lifestyle change no matter where a person may be. The complete MasterCaution® system, including smart garments, smartphone app, and cloud station will be demonstrated in live action at the HealthWatch booth (Hall 3 E20) at Medica in Dusseldorf, Germany (November 12-15).
Designed by textile experts, hWear™ t-shirt garments measure the highest quality vital signs all without electrodes, gels, or shaving preparations for both men and women. The garments are machine washable and interface directly with most existing cardiac telemetry systems. The garments are CE and FDA registered.
