Visitors to this years event, which runs from May 2 - 4, can look forward to a spectacular gathering of over 200 rare and exotic classic motorcars, sports cars, and racers, all assembled in the glorious lakeside setting of La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa in Montgomery, Texas. The Houston Classic Motorcar Weekend is a chance to experience two great events in one unforgettable weekend. Worldwide Auctioneers' 13th annual The Houston Classic Auction is on Saturday, May 3, with over 100 of the world's finest and rarest motorcars lining up to go under the auction hammer. The Concours d'Elegance of Texas presented by the Gullo Family Dealerships, opens its doors on Sunday, May 4, a distinct car show that showcases some of the greatest cars on the planet, assembled together from collections around the country to be judged for appearance, originality and provenance.
Remarkable cars attract interesting owners, and consignments to this year's The Houston Classic Auction include a 1955 Porsche 356/1500 S Pre-A Speedster, an early “Pre-A” 356 Speedster with Certificate of Authenticity and Kardex; 1963 Maserati 3500GTi Series I Sebring, a well documented, well optioned and investment grade series I Sebring; 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe, an unrestored original example with only 2,574 miles since new; and a 1967 Porsche 911S SWB Coupe, with a sunroof – a first-year example of the iconic short-wheelbase 911S. There is something for everyone in this year’s auction, including, a 2014 Regio Design “World’s Tallest Motorcycle,” over 16’ tall, runs, drives, and steers; whose provenance includes entrance in the Guinness Book of World Records. Or, view and bid on the 1957 Aston Martin DB2/4 MkIII, a stunning time capsule example that was parked and stored for over 40 years. Special guests of the Concours ‘d’Elegance of Texas are the Texas Region Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club, who will be conducting their Spring Meet and join in Concours weekend events. This year’s Concours celebrates some 35 different marques, featuring Rolls-Royce and Bentley. This year’s Concours d’Elegance has expanded to include a Friday afternoon charity golf tournament and a new workshop for youth in Montgomery and Conroe. “The “Next Gen” Education Summit – Using the Automobile to Inspire Students, Show Them Opportunity, and Teach them Growth,” will be conducted Friday, May 2, from 10am to 2pm, at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa’s Europa Amphitheatre. The workshop, including local high school students as well as at risk youth and school administrators, is sponsored by La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa and Worldwide Auctioneers.
The Workshop will involve using the automobile to inspire students, show them opportunity and teach them growth.
· Showing opportunity - Students will learn about art and design and how to judge motorcars on styling, design, correctness and originality from experts in the field
· Learning about Opportunities in Preservation, Maintenance and Restoration
· Hands on teaching the students how they can potentially grow this great hobby including mechanical, sheet metal, and attention to detail, operations and history of vintage cars
Saturday evening, May 3, will include the Cowboys & Cars Strolling Charity Dinner and Dance, poolside, at La Torretta, and include a silent and live auction and dancing to the music of Southern Light. The event is also open to the public and will be a fun, carefree evening, with like-minded car enthusiasts.
The Concours d'Elegance of Texas is a 501(c)3 non-profit and is proud to support the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance, Holy Angels Residential Facility, and the Hagerty Education Program, as its primary charities.
