Convoy of Hope Hosts Block Party in Weller Neighborhood
Springfield, MO (PRWEB) August 21, 2014 -- Convoy of Hope will partner with local businesses, churches, government agencies and nonprofits for a celebration in the Weller neighborhood of Springfield on Saturday, August 23, at Silver Springs Park.
Student-volunteers from Evangel University will serve at the event, work with area residents on maintenance and cleanup projects throughout the neighborhood, and bag groceries at Convoy of Hope’s World Distribution Center.
“We’re thrilled to once again work with Convoy of Hope to impact the Springfield community,” says Christy Rowden, activities director for Evangel. “Such service is an important part of the Evangel mission and experience.”
The free celebration takes place from 1:30pm to 4:00pm and includes groceries, lunch, haircuts, family portraits, job services, a carnival and more provided by Convoy of Hope and the Springfield community. Identification is not required to attend and participate in the event.
Convoy of Hope’s national partner, Plum Organics, will distribute high-quality organic food for babies, toddlers and school-aged children. Missouri Career Center will also be on-site to provide job services.
