CookingSchools.com Explains the Importance of Food Preparation
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) March 27, 2014 -- CookingSchools.com, an online directory of culinary arts schools, explains the importance of food preparation and how to clean produce.
According to a March 19th article posted on Live Well Nebraska titled “Talking Dirty Produce: Tips On How, When To Clean Fruits and Veggies,” there is a right and wrong time to clean vegetables and fruit. Cleaning fruit and vegetables is key to staying healthy and cooking great tasting cuisine.
The article says that many people don’t know when to clean their produce. Cleaning produce is not always necessary, but the article says eating produce laden with pesticides can be dangerous for an individual’s health. Here is a list of the do’s and don’ts of washing produce:
1. Oranges and Bananas- The exteriors of oranges and bananas are inedible and are rarely used in cooking. Unless it is intended for a baby or an elderly person, the article says these fruits do no need to be washed.
2. Pre-Washed Produce- Produce that is marked as pre washed is often safe, the article says. But to ensure that it is clean and healthy wash it again. Though it may have been washed earlier, it can pick up germs and bacteria after a period of time.
3. Washing Produce- Do not wash produce in a sink with standing water. Use fresh flowing water to ensure that the produce gets clean and doesn’t pick up bacteria that is present in stagnant water.
Andrew Girard, a representative at CookingSchools.com, a directory of culinary arts schools, says washing produce is one of the most important aspects of food preparation. “By washing produce, you can ensure you are cooking with the healthiest and the best tasting foods. Going to culinary school teaches you valuable skills, like when and when not, to clean produce. Lessons like those are just one of many you’ll learn while at culinary school. Taking cooking classes will teach you about the value of food preparation and tricks to save time in the kitchen.”
