Districts of Distinction Names 62 More Honorees
Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) March 02, 2015 -- In its March edition, District Administration magazine names 62 school districts as “Districts of Distinction.” This is the second round of honorees in this national recognition program, which was launched in November 2014.
Districts of Distinction was created by District Administration magazine to honor school districts that are leading the way with new ideas that work. Honorees were selected based on the quantifiable results and replicability of their initiatives. The March Districts of Distinction honorees were selected by the magazine’s editors out of hundreds of nominations.
There were a variety of innovative and successful initiatives among the March honorees, including The School District of Lancaster in Pennsylvania that created an academy to engage uninvolved parents. A weekly series of workshops for families has become so popular that local agencies, universities and community organizations want to be part of each event. Urban high school students in Tennessee are learning in personalized environments offered by The Academies of Nashville. And at Compton USD in California, there’s been a greater emphasis in writing, as grammar has been integrated into all elementary school lessons.
“We are pleased that Districts of Distinction has generated a lot of interest after only two rounds,” says JD Solomon, editorial director at District Administration magazine. “We look forward to learning about and honoring even more remarkable districts as this program continues to grow.”
