Downtown Gilbert Lands New Entertainment Venue - Paradox Escape Room
Gilbert, AZ (PRWEB) August 05, 2016 -- Gilbert, Arizona has been in the news a lot lately for being one of the safest cities to live in, one of the best places to raise a family and a great place for job-seekers. But, those that have been to Downtown Gilbert's Heritage District to visit any of the award-winning restaurants have probably noticed that, after their meal, there’s not much else to do. As it turns out, that may be changing. Paradox Escape Room, a new kind of entertainment venue, Just launched last month in Gilbert’s historic Heritage District.
Paradox, the brain-child of friends and neighbors, Javon and Keyoundra Maxey and TJ and Macee Tillman, places a team of players in the lead role of a real life escape game. Paradox's first room, the Casino Heist, has players in the role of a top-notch heist team, who've broken into a casino to grab the biggest score the world has ever known but, suddenly, something goes wrong. The backup security system kicks on, and now, the only way to escape with the cash, and with their freedom, is to solve the clues and crack the locks in the vault to get out in time, but there's only 60 minutes.
When asked why they decided to open this type of venue now, TJ responded, “In the world we live in today, where everyone is always preoccupied with their screens and social media, this a fun and exciting way to get a group of friends together, have people actually interacting with each other and have an awesome experience for them to talk about for years to come.”
As far as the location, Macee added, “We love going to downtown Gilbert. Over the last few years, it’s blossomed into a place where people come together for great food and drinks, there’s just a great buzz and energy about it and we wanted to be a part of that.” She continued, “The one complaint we have about the Heritage District, and the one thing we hear most often from our friends and neighbors in Gilbert, is that there’s nothing to do before or after you eat there. We hope Paradox will be the beginning of a paradigm shift in the heritage district where other business owners will start creating some new and exciting things to draw people in other than just the great restaurants.”
Located directly across from the Gilbert Historical Museum, the Tillmans and Maxeys are hoping to attract visitors from some of the throngs of people that line the streets during the evenings and weekends to try out the escape game craze that’s just beginning to hit the US.
Having gone through escape rooms all across the country, Javon is the mastermind behind some of the inner workings of the room. When asked what makes a great escape game, Javon responded, “A good introduction is the first step towards immersion, it helps set the tone for the next 60 minutes.” He then adds, “I am looking for unique and thoughtful puzzles that challenge me and my team. Puzzles that include teamwork, electronics, are important as look as they fit with the mechanics of the room“.
With Keyoundra and Macee spearheading the design of the entire space, the immersion is what they feel is the most critical aspect of the room. Keyoundra notes, “I think that the most compelling thing about the escape rooms that we are creating are their realistic nature. From beginning to end the props and clues used to align your escape will mentally blow you away!”
As Downtown Gilbert has become known as "the" foodie destination in the southeast valley in recent years, perhaps with entertainment venues like Paradox opening, it will start to gain a reputation for, not just food, but food and fun.
