Dr. Sanjay Jain Looks at New Ways to Complete New Year’s Resolutions
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- New Year’s Resolutions are synonymous with failed dreams and wasted money on gym memberships. It seems that late in December there is typically a strong focus on resolutions, but after that they have largely been ignored. Dr. Sanjay Jain has developed an Integrative Decision Making approach that will be launched in his book Optimal Living 360: Smart Decision Making for a Balanced Life next month. Here are a few ways to use the approach when setting and accomplishing New Year’s Resolutions.
1.) Set Lifestyle Changes, Not Short Term Goals: Everything in life comes down to the ROI or Return on Investment. Ultimately all types of health including physical, mental, spiritual, and economic are interrelated and impact your overall well-being. All resolutions should be set with the mindset of continuing them beyond just a few months, but be a complete change in your life.
2.) Set follow-up goals: Weight loss is a common New Year’s Resolution, but many forget to set a specific goal and also do not create follow-up goals. Creating follow-up goals will lead the resolution to become a lifestyle change rather than a goal that’s quickly forgotten.
3.) Partner Up: Lifestyle changes are much more achievable when the change involves friends and family. A husband and wife working together on a resolution will create accountability leading to a higher rate of success.
4.) Do Not Ignore Current Healthy Habits: To live optimally, all decisions made in life need to be made in congruence. Many resolutions are focused on intently, but other portions of life are put to the side. Life changes made at the beginning of the year need to replace poor habits and new poor habits cannot be introduced due to a lack of focus.
“Start the new year off with a KISS. Keep it simple and specific and you will achieve your goals.” – Sanjay Jain
