Employee of Toro Turf Equipment Distributor Honored with Master Service Technician Status
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) February 15, 2016 -- An employee of Kenney Machinery Corporation, a Toro turf equipment distributor based in Indianapolis, recently achieved a significant milestone by earning the designation of Master Service Technician from the Toro Company. The employee, Rick Harrison, earned the certification by demonstrating a commitment to professional development, excellence in customer service, and a high level of technical expertise.
“We are very proud of Rick for achieving this milestone”, said Kenney Machinery Corporation CEO Mike Kenney. “He is a very dedicated employee, and his outstanding product knowledge is a real benefit to our customers. We’re happy to see him get this recognition for all his hard work.”
Rick has been working towards his certification as a Master Service Technician ever since he first started at Kenney Machinery. The first step was to complete the EETC certification program, which requires passing a battery of tests covering topics such as drive trains, gasoline engines, diesel engines, and electrical systems. Once he passed those tests, he was able to start on the path to Master Service Technician certification, which consists of a combination of online and in-person training.
The online training consists of four modules covering the Toro Groundsmaster 5900 and 5910, Reelmasters, Greensmasters, and Toro vehicles. Each module involves 20-40 hours of training and requires passing five tests plus a master test at the end of the module—a total of 24 tests.
The in-person training includes three classes—one on Toro sprayer operation in Florida, and two classes held at the Toro training facility in Minnesota. In one of those classes, students spend time diagnosing equipment that has been deliberately “bugged” and repairing it.
“There is no doubt my diagnostic skills were improved by the training”, says Rick. “Combined with the product knowledge I gained from studying all the manuals and taking the tests, it will allow me to more effectively troubleshoot problems with equipment—which of course benefits the customer.”
Achieving the certification of Master Service Technician is hardly the end of Rick’s training; in fact, he’s already working on his Senior Master Technician certification. “It's just one of many steps that are to come”, he says. “It's a continuing process…it’s all about continuing education.”
