Davis, California (PRWEB) December 06, 2013 -- Engage3 is launching its first holiday drive and collecting donations for community residents in its Davis office beginning Wednesday, December 4, through the end of day on Monday, December 23. All proceeds will go toward Davis Community Meals, a local non-profit organization that provides hot meals, shelter and housing to individuals and families in need. Hunger and malnutrition are tough social causes to tackle, but ShoppingScout™ is taking steps to make healthy food more accessible. This campaign not only allows Engage3 to give back to a community in which they are deeply invested, but also aligns with the company’s mission to help families stay within their budget on groceries and household essentials by finding stores with the best deals to save the most money.
“I’m intimately connected to Davis and thought it would be a perfect match to leverage our product to help community members,” said David Chan, SVP of Sales and Marketing for Engage3. “We want to maximize our social good and give back, starting with our own community. We’re really excited to work with Davis Community Meals for our first holiday food drive.”
Pre-packaged food items such as canned food, dried pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, and cereal bars as well as household necessities such as toilet paper and cleaning products are welcome. To view local stores that carry these high-demand items for the best value, log in to ShoppingScout for the full list. Join in the fight to end hunger one community at a time!
In the last year alone, Davis Community Meals served more than 6,500 meals to low-income and homeless people and provided them with essentials. "The demand for food has never been greater than in the past year, whether it is for the homeless individuals and families in our shelters and transitional housing programs or just folks in need in the Davis community who come to Davis Community Meals for a nutritious meal or for other assistance. It is especially great around the holidays when families’ needs are more acute and budgets are stretched ever thinner. Your contribution of canned foods and non-perishables will help us meet the needs of those in our community," said Bill Pride, Executive Director of Davis Community Meals.
Founder and CEO of Engage3, Ken Ouimet, emphasizes the importance of budget mindfulness as he explains the origins of ShoppingScout: “The idea for ShoppingScout was actually born during the recession of 2008 to address the need to help people buy everyday essentials at affordable prices. People feel added financial pressure especially during the holiday season, and this drive provides essentials and a holiday meal to families in need.”
To participate, simply shop at any of your regular stores and bring in your contribution to their downtown Davis office (213 E Street, Suite D) anytime during business hours from now through December 23. Please contact them at klin(at)shoppingscout(dot)com if you have any special requests such as arranging for a pick-up service. Together, we can bring a little holiday cheer to families in need!
