Entrepreneur Ravi Namboori extends support to Cyclone Hudhud victims in India
Bay Area, California (PRWEB) December 12, 2014 -- Ravi Namboori, a Cisco evangelist and IT entrepreneur, on Monday extended support to the victims of Cyclone Hudhud, which hit the coast of Andhra Pradesh state in India in the month of October.
“We have not seen a cyclone of this magnitude strike this state before. Most affected were people belonging to districts of Vishakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and East Godavari,” said Namboori, a person of Indian origin (PIO). “It affected livelihoods of around 250,000 people and damaged crops and property worth $11 billion,” he added.
He organized fund raising events in the United States and donated an undisclosed sum of money to an unnamed non-profit organization in Andhra Pradesh, which is doing its bit to support people affected by the cyclone. He made an appeal to all the American Indians living in the Bay Area, California to contribute to the cause.
Cyclone Hudhud made a landfall on October 12, 2014, close to the port city of Visakhapatnam (Vizag) at a wind speed exceeding 125mph. It is the reported to be the most destructive cyclone ever to hit India in the last decade. Visakhapatnam was one of the worst affected areas as a few of its habitations were inundated, runway at its airport was flooded, and many trees and utility poles in the city were brought down.
