Fourth of July Holiday Weekend Will Keep Virginia State Police Busy
Fredericksburg, VA (PRWEB) July 02, 2013 -- Traffic attorney Andrew Flusche has complied information on travel trends for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. AAA has projected that 42.3 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more this holiday weekend. This number is up 4.9% from 2012. The Virginia State Police (VSP) will be busy issuing traffic tickets and other traffic citations. Two of the most common are speeding and reckless driving tickets. A look at our infographic will give you a better idea of travel trends and just how many tickets were written in 2012 by VSP. The infographic is included below, and it is online:

“Motorists should be vigilant about speed limits as they travel for the holiday weekend,” Flusche warns. “In a 70 mile-per-hour zone, going just 11 miles above the speed limit can result in a misdemeanor reckless driving charge.” Also, Flusche cautions drivers about the revised texting while driving law, which goes into effect on July 1st. Under the new version of Virginia Code 46.2-1078.1, drivers can be pulled over solely if an officer has reasonable suspicion of texting while driving. Flusche’s advises, “Put your phone in a hands-free mount and don’t touch it while driving.”
