GreatTibetTour.com Announces The Reopening Of Zhangmu Port
TIBET, China, June 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Recently, an international meeting was held in Beijing on June 21, 2018. Li Keqiang, Premier of the People's Republic of China, met K.P. Sharma Oli, Nepalese Prime Minister and had a deep communication about economy, politics, culture. In order to improve the development of Nepalese and Chinese tourism, both sides had reached an agreement on improving the function of Gyirong Port and quickening the pace of reopening the functions of Zhangmu Port. In the future, with the reopening of Zhangmu Port, Nepal and Tibet tour will be more and more convenient. At present, Gyirong Port is the only overland gateway for travelers who want to have a holiday in both Tibet and Nepal. As a professional and reliable Tibetan local travel agency, Great Tibet Tour focuses on customizing some wonderful Nepal Tibet tour packages for travelers.
As the neighboring country of China, Nepal is close to the Tibet Autonomous Region. Every year, lots of foreigners travel to Tibet from Nepal. But how can a traveler get to Tibet from Nepal besides flights? Where is the entrance? In fact, there are two famous gateways for tourists to enter Tibet from Nepal. The first gateway is the Zhangmu Port. The second gateway is the Gyirong Port. Here are some details about the two ports.
Zhangmu Port
With the high altitude of 2,300 meters, Zhangmu Port is located in Nyalam County. In 2012, with the hard work of Chinese and Nepalese governments, Zhangmu Port was recognized as one of the six ports between China and Nepal. Before the 2015 Nepal Earthquake, Zhangmu Port was the main gateway for tourists to travel to Tibet from Nepal or travel to Nepal from Tibet. Because lots of hotels, restaurants, and vehicles were available for here, travelers could explore the beauty and mystery of Tibet and Nepal easily. But after the destructive earthquake, this port was closed due to the damaged route. In 2017, Chinese and Nepalese governments had discussed the potential reopening of the port, but it didn't succeed. Until June 22, 2018, this agenda is mentioned again and gets agreement between both sides. So we say that the reopening of the Zhangmu Port is nailed down this time.
Gyirong Port
After the 2015 Nepal Earthquake, the Zhangmu Port was closed to all travelers. In the following two years, there were two main ways for travelers to get to Tibet. Some came to Tibet from mainlands of China, and some entered Tibet from Nepal by air, instead of by overland. The situation was changed since an important meeting held in Lhasa on 30, August 2017. It was declared that Gyirong Port would replace the function of Zhangmu Port. From that time on, foreigners could travel to Tibet from Nepal by air or by overland. Compared with Zhangmu Port, traveling to Tibet via Gyirong Port takes more time because of the longer distance.
As a trustworthy Tibet travel agency, we, at Great Tibet Tour offer various Tibet Tour packages, as well as the inbound and outbound regions. We are expecting the reopening of Zhangmu Port which bring convenience to travelers and more people can enjoy the unique scenery along this way!
