Hilton Worldwide’s Global Month of Service is Showcased in the Washington, DC Suburb of Arlington Virginia
Arlington, VA (PRWEB) September 21, 2015 -- Next month marks the third anniversary of Hilton Worldwide’s Global Week of Service celebrating the year-round commitment of Hilton hotels around the globe supporting the communities where they live, work and travel. This support is shown through projects designed to improve the lives of thousands of people locally. The Hilton Crystal City at Washington Reagan National Airport, just outside of Washington, DC, is a proud supporter of this program. The hotel is managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, an operator of over 100 hotels throughout North America, including 15 in the Washington, DC area.
“We are so proud that Hilton has made giving back a tradition,” said Harold Bassler, General Manager of the Hilton Crystal City. “It’s a time our team looks forward to throughout the year.” The hotel has a long standing history of giving back to the local community. Additionally, the hotel works closely with national charities by supporting and hosting fundraisers as well as building awareness with their staff, guests and clients.
This year the Hilton Crystal City will have a team participating in the 75th Anniversary Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, the American Diabetes Association’s signature fundraising walk. “Our team is excited to be included in this worthy cause,” said Bassler. “We honor Red Striders (those living with diabetes) as they are the reason why we walk and congratulate Champions (individuals that raise over $100) during the festivities.” This event has been place for more than 20 years and has raised more than $200 million to stop diabetes. Step Out is filled with music, food, kid’s activities, local entertainment and most importantly, the company of those who truly understand the impact of diabetes.
The hotel will also be participating in Toys for Tots with its local Crescent Hotels & Resorts properties. Last year Crescent Hotels in the Capital region collected over 1,300 toys for Washington, DC area children. “It was heartwarming to see our team members, clients and guests bring toys to help local families celebrate the holidays,” said Bassler. The hotel will begin to collect toys in mid-November this year.
Last year, Global Week of Service included more than 3,500 projects in 86 countries, and, with the help of properties like the Hilton Crystal City, these numbers are expected to be surpassed this year.
