Jason Victor Everett Announces Controversial Short Film “Skinhead Requiem” starring Tom Noonan to Screen at 17th Annual Academy Award-Qualifying L.A. Shorts Fest in Sept.
North Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- Sound&Fury Pictures announce the screening of the controversial short film “Skinhead Requiem” starring Tom Noonan (Manhunter, Heat, Robocop 2, Last Action Hero, The Pledge, Damages, Hell on Wheels), a dramatic short film produced, written, directed by, and co-starring Jason Victor Everett (The Sitdown), at the 17th Annual Los Angeles Shorts Fest held from September 5-12, 2013, in its traditional North Hollywood venue. The film will be presented as part of a block of shorts scheduled for Monday night, 9/9/13, at 10:15pm at the Laemmle NoHo 7 Theatres located at 5240 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91601. L.A. Shorts Fest is the only festival in the world with seven awards officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. In the past, 44 films have received Oscar nominations with 13 winning the coveted Oscar statue, including last year's narrative short "Curfew."
Nominated for multiple awards and praised by critics across the globe as “mesmerizing,” “powerful,” and “immensely compelling,” “Skinhead Requiem” (2013) is an 8-minute edgy piece which depicts the final prison visitation between a volatile skinhead convict on Death Row and a not-so-typical priest. Noonan turns in a towering performance as the priest, while the filmmaker transforms to play the role of the skinhead. For the latter to occur, Everett revealed that he sat nine hours for the application of temporary white supremacist tattoos, wore custom-designed contact lenses to mimic blood-red tattooed eyeballs (a practice more fact than fiction in some of today’s penitentiary population), went off his depression medication prior to shooting so that he could cry more easily, and took anabolic steroids to help gain approximately 30lbs of size over the span of a month. Released under Everett’s banner Sound&Fury Pictures earlier in 2013, the film premiered at the Arizona International Film Festival in April and has since screened at several other festivals, including the Dances With Films Festival in Hollywood, California.
