Kelly Hennessy’s new book “Last Refuge of a Scoundrel” is an exhilarating novel about a bitter dispute in a homeowners' association in North San Diego County.
(PRWEB) November 16, 2017 -- Kelly Hennessy, a multi-instrumentalist composer and musician, has completed his new book “Last Refuge of a Scoundrel”: a multifaceted work of fiction about a protracted dispute that has occurred among the homeowners association in North San Diego County that touches upon the effects of culture clash and war.
Author Hennessy thrills readers with every detailed conflict in the story: Mr. Rigney told Al the courts frowned upon and took a dim view of this type of lease but that he should expect to receive an “unlawful detainer” from the sheriff or marshal hand delivered to the door, not a thrilling prospect. The attorney also told Al to stop paying rent at El Costli Hills, advice he was exceedingly reluctant to heed until the management flat out refused to accept the Hattebergs’ checks. After they subsequently changed their minds a month or so later, Al turned the tables on them and now refused to pay rent, telling them to deduct it from the security deposit. Mr. Rigney told Al he’d meet their opponents on the courthouse steps. Despite the stress of losing their modest rental home of five years, it was heartening to finally find an attorney with some fighting spirit who didn’t covertly run interference for landlords. Al also ran the case by a Solongtootha Beach lawyer named Merriman he’d previously consulted, who concurred that El Costli Hills’ “eat-your-cake-and-have-it” lease appeared contractually bogus and indicative of sordid business practices. Al hunkered down and prepared to call Mr. Rigney’s office upon receipt of the unlawful detainer.
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Kelly Hennessy’s fascinating book is also filled with magic realism escapist fantasy, and action; the events in the story proves that this is a page-turner novel full of exciting ideas.
