LiveOps Supports Muscular Dystrophy Association Show of Strength Telethon
Redwood City, Calif. (PRWEB) August 29, 2014 -- LiveOps, Inc., the global leader in cloud contact center and customer service solutions, today announced that LiveOps has been selected as a call center provider for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's (MDA) Show of Strength Telethon for the third year in a row. This fundraising and entertainment event raises money and awareness to support MDA’s mission to help children and adults affected by muscular dystrophy, an aggressive and sometimes fatal muscle disease. This year’s program includes performances by Bret Michaels, Jason Derulo, Aloe Blacc, Fall Out Boy, Rascall Flatts, LeAnn Rimes and many more. The telethon will air on the ABC Television Network on Sunday, August 31 at 9:00 p.m. / 8:00 p.m. Central Time.
“Over the past three years LiveOps has become a partner in this event, and we are thankful for the continued enthusiasm from the company’s community of agents,” said Kevin Moran, executive vice president and telethon producer, MDA. “Initially we were drawn to LiveOps because their solution offered the scalability and flexibility our telethon needed, but we have continued our relationship with LiveOps because of the quality of their agents. We know the agents taking calls on our behalf are truly passionate about our cause and their participation has become key to the event.”
With LiveOps scalable call center services model, MDA knows that all calls are handled quickly, including during peak times, but also that agents will not be sitting idle during less busy points of the telethon. This on-demand solution comprised of independent, at-home agents makes LiveOps the ideal partner for any organization that experiences call patterns with peaks and valleys, and has earned LiveOps Agent Services credibility with MDA and other telethons.
“We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to support MDA in the organization’s mission and to our community of independent agents who jumped at the chance to provide services in support of such a worthy cause for the third year running,” said Vasili Triant, chief executive officer, LiveOps. “We are looking forward to this weekend’s event and to continuing our relationship with MDA as we work together to help those affected by muscular dystrophy.”
To support MDA, and help raise awareness and funds to fight ALS, Triant participated in the #ALSIceBucketChallenge. Before getting drenched with not one, but two ice buckets, he committed LiveOps to donating to MDA and challenged LiveOps employees, clients, partners and affiliates to either donate their time or money to the cause.

About MDA Show of Strength Telethon
MDA’s first Labor Day weekend telethon was broadcast in 1966 on a single New York station and has become the most successful fundraising event in the history of television. The show, with its iconic host Jerry Lewis and with help from a legion of top celebrities and entertainers, has raised millions of dollars each year to provide life-enhancing support and services for the families MDA serves. The real stars on the broadcast have always been the MDA families who have graciously agreed to open their homes and hearts to America and tell their stories of strength. This year marks the 49th annual MDA Labor Day weekend telethon.
In addition to funds contributed by the public, substantial support also comes from MDA’s family of national sponsors, whose work throughout the year on behalf of MDA will be recognized on the telethon. Among the sponsors: International Association of Fire Fighters, CITGO Petroleum Corp., Lowe’s, Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Jiffy Lube International, National Association of Letter Carriers, The Safeway Foundation, 7-Eleven, Dr Pepper Snapple Group/7UP, Acosta and Burger King.
Funds raised by past MDA telethons also have contributed to the organization’s worldwide research program. Today, with numerous clinical trials currently underway, there is growing excitement that new lifesaving treatments and discoveries are on the horizon for many of the disorders MDA is dedicated to defeating, including Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
