McKinney Chamber of Commerce Bright Lights Big City Event Honors Awards Recipients and Recognizes Growth in McKinney
McKinney, TX (PRWEB) March 01, 2014 -- Welcoming attendees at the Community Awards Celebration, McKinney Chamber President Jodi Ann LaFreniere Ray said, “We have so many amazing businesses and individuals in McKinney. As the evenings’ Presenting Sponsor, Independent Bank Chairman of the Board and CEO, David Brooks, congratulated those honored at the event and expressed Independent Bank’s pleasure in being a part of such a dynamic community.
Mayor Brian Loughmiller addressed the crowd, “We are excited to participate in the Annual Community Awards Celebration with the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. Bright Lights Big City is an appropriate name for this year's event given the continued growth and development that we see in McKinney.”
Representatives from each of the participating entities presented recipients with awards for their positive impact on the growth and development of McKinney.
The 2014 Carey Cox Citizen of the Year Award was presented to Maylee Thomas Fuller. Thomas Fuller has contributed to McKinney’s well-being with resources, energy and creativity over a sustained period of time. She serves and supports others with a generous spirit and unwavering dedication to the future of McKinney.
The 2014 Leadership McKinney Alumni of the Year award was presented to Class of 2008 graduate, Carol Ownby. The award honored Ownby for her positive and lasting difference in McKinney through active involvement. Her consistent participation in community and Leadership programs has made her a role model for others.
The Outstanding Small Business of the Year Award winner was North Collin County Habitat for Humanity Restore. This award is given to a business that has enhanced the economy of McKinney through the successful, long-term and profitable operation of their business.
Patt Lobb’s Toyota of McKinney was honored with the Outstanding Business of the Year Award. This award is given to a business that has enhanced McKinney’s economy through successful, long-term and profitable operation.
