Medicalis Introduces Natural Language Option for Decision Support Platform at RSNA
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 02, 2014 -- Medicalis, a leading innovator and developer of Enterprise Workflow solutions, is introducing a new Natural Language Processing (NLP) feature option for its Decision Support Platform, as a works in progress, at the Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) annual conference being held November 30 – December 4, 2014.
“By leveraging NLP within the reasoning framework of our Decision Support Platform, we are able to eliminate the need for physicians to ‘hunt and find’ structured reasons for the study when attempting to structure an order for the delivery of CDS,” said Oran Muduroglu, president and CEO of Medicalis. “The physician simply provides a narrative, free text reason for study and the NLP will both decode and structure this data for use within Decision Support.”
The clinician only needs to use structure indications as a backup. This allows the physician to practice medicine, not data entry. By leveraging NLP, a physician can use the language and terminology they are most comfortable with instead of trying to find the most representative term from a set of structure indications.
Other advantages include assisting customers to be prepared for the CMS mandate requiring decision support for high tech procedures in 2017 and as a solution of choice for the IDN market to assist in managing the complexities of these sophisticated environments.
“There are also second-to-none analytics available to provide precise insight into the delivery and effect of Decision Support,” said Muduroglu. “The choice of Medicalis Decision Support will future-proof organizations, providing the flexibility and extensibility as an organization transitions from a volume-based business to a value-based business.”
