Monster Energy’s Sam Hill Dominates Opening Round of Enduro World Series In Chile
LO BARNECHEA, Chile (PRWEB) March 26, 2018 -- Monster Energy’s Sam Hill backs up his 2017 Championship as the overall winner by winning the opening round of Enduro World Series (EWS) held in Lo Barnechea, Chile this past weekend.
Riders were served up some of the toughest conditions ever seen on the EWS circuit mixed with high altitude, long stages, dust, heat and brutally technical stages. It was a battle of fitness, skill and attrition as the course took its toll on some of the top riders equipment leaving no mercy to Monster Energy’s Jared Graves and Mitch Ropelato as they fell prey to the courses rough conditions both suffering mechanicals forcing them to abandon the race.
Hill however managed to keep his bike together through all six stages and continued his winning ways after day one by securing the first place spot after the remaining three stages. He rode with unrivaled skill over the Chilean “anti-grip” dirt and tore down the slopes faster than all of his rivals. After day one’s first three stages placing 2-1-2, Hill carried a 19.2 heading into day two where he managed to go 2-1-1 stretching his overall lead to +36.34 seconds over 2nd place finisher Martin Maes.
“This weekend was awesome," said Hill. "We had two days of racing with three stages each day under super tough conditions that were super technical, slippery and rocky along with long stages in the altitude, which made it really hard. I just focused on myself and rode each stage as good as I could. I couldn’t be happier to start the season with a win.”
