(San Diego, CA) (PRWEB) June 09, 2014 -- Mueller College has been a staple of the San Diego career training landscape for nearly 40 years. While its massage therapy certificate programs are widely recognized, expanding to offer career-oriented degree programs is a natural progression for the College. Students will earn an Associates of Occupational Science in either Recording Arts or Small Business Operations.
This is not the first time Mueller College has been associated with music: the College runs a small local music performance venue (Across the Street) in the University Heights area of San Diego. Mueller College President and CEO, Dr. Jeff Welsh couldn’t be happier. “My first job was teaching music when I was 14. I have been a professional musician for more than 40 years, and I am very excited to give back to the music community in such a significant way. This program will offer maximum value to students and will prepare them for meaningful careers that will align with their passions.”
Ensuring that the Recording Arts Program provides students with a great hands-on experience, Mueller College has partnered with Rancho Bernardo recording studio, Studio West. Owner and CEO Peter Dyson said, "Studio West has decades of experience serving San Diego and beyond with professional audio and post production services so we feel like we know what skills are required for people to succeed in this challenging occupation. That's why we started offering certification classes in Pro Tools and other production techniques 8 years ago, but this new partnership will take that to a whole new level. Mueller College is an accredited institution and they really understand career education. Combining this experience with our technical knowledge, world-class studios and industry contacts will be a powerful combination that will surely benefit students.”
In the Massage Therapy and Personal Fitness Trainer certificate programs, Mueller College provides coursework in business, but over the years, students had always wanted more. Mueller College has responded by creating the Small Business Operations program. “Many of our graduates have gone on to start their own businesses over the years. These entrepreneurs need significant business savvy to be successful in their careers, but do not have time or money to waste,” said Welsh. “The Small Business Operations degree has been designed to give them everything they need to succeed in 18 months. The revenue that would have otherwise been lost to consultants and costly mistakes will ensure a rapid and positive return on the investment they make in their education. Graduates of this program will also be available to assist other entrepreneurs in starting their own firms, regardless of the nature of their businesses.”
Local small business professionals from the Corlea Group, gap intelligence, and others have enthusiastically welcomed the program. The AOS Degree in Small Business Operations makes a lot of sense for San Diego, a business community that is largely comprised of small businesses.
