I'm pleased to recognize Phyllis with this important hono. Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to all women.

The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Phyllis A. Gill as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in law enforcement. NAPW is the nation's leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.

“I'm pleased to recognize Phyllis with this important honor,” says NAPW President Star Jones. “Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to all women.”

Lieutenant Gill has been in law enforcement, protecting the citizens of Chicago, for more than 24 years and has held the title of Lieutenant for six of those years. Her training and experience includes law enforcement medical rescue training, terrorist training and terrorist response readiness. She also specializes in criminal / sexual assault, evidence and research.

An esteemed member of the Chicago Police Department, some of Lieutenant Gill’s more memorable details include sharing the stage with Brother Sergeant De Lacy Davis, a 14-year veteran of the East Orange, NJ Police Department, as they spoke against police brutality. She has also guarded Winnie Mandela in NYC and assisted Patricia Heale, President of the African American Police League. Lieutenant Gill received her B.A. from Loyola University.
