National Association of Professional Women Inducts Phyllis A. Gunderson, Owner of Humming Wolf Studio, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 27, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Phyllis A. Gunderson as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Phyllis into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Phyllis Gunderson enjoyed painting as a young child and was encouraged by her parents to pursue her passion. “They noticed I would focus keenly on the beauty around me via my drawings,” she said. “While my dad was overseas serving in the U.S. Air Force, my mother gifted me a year of training in a local art gallery. There I learned the basics of oil painting and, quite frankly, fell in love with the medium.”
Although she continued to paint throughout high school and college, Ms. Gunderson said she “put down my brushes for several decades” and concentrated on a successful career in the aerospace industry and raising her family. While working as an Executive Coach in England, Ms. Gunderson also took on the role of Chief Information Officer. Once she arrived back in the U.S., Ms. Gunderson decided to return full time to her “first love: painting and translating the beauty of what is to a new beauty.”
Today, as Owner of Humming Wolf Studio, Ms. Gunderson specializes in two-dimensional oil paintings “that are representational of nature reflecting the spirit of the land and animals.” This year, she successfully participated in 11 shows in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Texas. “My final event for the year is ‘The SHOW of Dripping Springs’ in Dripping Springs, TX, Sept. 30 to Oct. 1, 2017,” she added.
In addition to her artistic talents, Ms. Gunderson continues to use her skills as a coach, mentoring corporate clients. “This also has translated into the commission work I do for my art clients as well,” she said. “I am able to help them articulate what they are looking for in beautiful art.” Although bringing her vision to canvas is sometimes challenging, Ms. Gunderson admits that often “there are many happy accidents that create beautiful results.” As for future goals, Ms. Gunderson, who is an active member of the National Association of Pen Women, Inc., and Oil Painters of America, said, “Find my best clients and give them the art they seek; in other words, find my tribe and be of service to them.
