New Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center Maryland Addiction Recovery Center Opens in Baltimore County, Maryland
Towson, Maryland (PRWEB) January 06, 2014 -- Maryland Addiction Recovery Center, a new drug and alcohol treatment program based in Towson, Maryland, announced their opening this week based on the extensive need for more drug abuse treatment in the area as well as due to the new parity benefits of the Affordable Care Act given towards mental health and substance abuse. The principals of the new center are excited to bring the latest in innovations of evidence-based substance abuse treatment techniques to the Baltimore area.
“This is the first time a new privately-owned program has opened in the area in a long time and it will be a much needed resource for the community,” said Mike Gimbel, former Baltimore County drug czar and host of the local substance abuse awareness “Straight Talk” television show. “The fact that more people are now covered with benefits by the Affordable Care Act will allow Maryland Addiction Recovery Center to offer drug and alcohol treatment a much larger amount of people in need.”
Along with programs for adults, the new treatment center will offer a program for adolescents, something that Gimbel says is often lacking in the area. “Drug and alcohol treatment for adolescents is such a needed service in this area. Teenagers are one of the most underserved populations in available quality substance abuse treatment services,” stated Gimbel. “I believe that the ‘Recovery After 3’ adolescent program that Maryland Addiction Recovery Center is offering allows parents to not have to send their children away and for the kids to stay in school and get their education while still getting great treatment!”
One of the common misconceptions about drug treatment is that only the extremely wealthy can afford high quality services. According to the owners of Towson’s newest drug and alcohol treatment program, this is entirely untrue. And now with the substance abuse benefits available through the Affordable Care Act, the proven evidence-based treatment philosophies used by Maryland Addiction Recovery Center are available to more people in need.
“Maryland and the greater Baltimore metropolitan area suffers from a huge need for additional addiction and chemical dependency treatment services,” said Sam Bierman, Executive Director. “Our hope is to help fill that need with many of the treatment therapies, approaches and modalities that have proven successful in many other areas of the country in respected inpatient facilities and bring them to the area at an affordable, outpatient level of care. There is a misconception that good quality addiction treatment is only available to the wealthy,” Bierman continued. “We disagree. We believe that the same quality treatment needs to be available to anyone that is suffering from drug and alcohol abuse.”
Maryland Addiction Recovery Center is a dual diagnosis treatment program and offers the following substance abuse treatment services: medically supervised opiate detox, intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient treatment, DUI/DWI education and prevention, family therapy, vocation and life skills training and counseling, specialty group therapy, drug assessments and evaluations and intervention services.
