New Jersey Healthcare Leaders Provide Medical Services, Resources to Hurricane Survivors in Puerto Rico
FORT LEE, N.J. (PRWEB) November 03, 2017 -- CareOne, a premier family-owned healthcare company with more than 30 centers in New Jersey, continued its ongoing relief efforts with a second trip to Puerto Rico to support the island’s medical community on October 27. Company leaders from CareOne, accompanied by representatives from RWJBarnabas Health and InnovaCare, made a return to trip to Puerto Rico in an effort to bring access to medical care and supplies to hurricane survivors.
The second mission organized by this collaborative team of New Jersey healthcare providers departed from Morristown Regional Airport on Friday, October 27 and returned on Monday, October 30. A third trip is planned for the week of November 6.
Patricia Chiorello, Vice President of Communications and Census Development at CareOne; Margie Heller, RWJBarnabas Health Medical Center Administrative Director, Community Health and Outreach; Dr. Richard Shinto, President and Chief Executive Officer of InnovaCare; Dr. Ernani Sadural, an RWJBarnabas Health Obstetrician and Gynecologist; and Michellene Davis, Esq., Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at RWJBarnabas set up a location where hurricane survivors could receive medical care ranging from general medical check-ups to obstetrics and gynecology services, and psychiatric assistance. As part of this relief effort, hot food was served, there was entertainment for young children and their families, and the team even set-up an area for people to receive haircuts.
In addition to the companies’ on-the-ground relief efforts in Puerto Rico, CareOne recently raised more than $4 million to support recovery efforts on the island. The October fundraiser, aptly titled a “Starry Night Masquerade,” was spearheaded by CareOne President and CEO Daniel E. Straus and Executive Vice President Elizabeth Straus in cooperation with InnovaCare.
This is the second trip representatives from CareOne, RWJBarnabas Health and InnovaCare have made to Puerto Rico since October 11. A third trip is planned for the week of November 6.
