New Pet Books Online Bookstore Launched Offering Dog Books, Cat Books, Horse Books and More
Exeter, NH (PRWEB) January 12, 2014 -- The former independent publisher, Jeremy Townsend, of Exeter, NH, has launched a new web site, http://www.booksforanimallovers.com, offering pet books for animal enthusiasts. The titles offered consist of new books, bestsellers, perennial favorites, and older, lesser-known volumes. Townsend reviews each title to confirm quality of writing and production before offering the books on the site.
“I’m counting on people out there who still prefer ‘tree’ books to e-books, and who appreciate the benefits of buying from an independent bookstore, rather than a larger, impersonal entity,” Townsend says. That impersonal entity would likely be Amazon.com, who has cornered the online book market in the last few years. But Townsend believes that just as many smaller bricks-and-mortar stores have survived the industry’s revolution, small online booksellers can also compete.
To launch http://www.booksforanimallovers.com, and generate some activity, Townsend has utilized Facebook and Twitter, gathering a like-minded community of animal lovers who also love books. The site also offers gifts, pet bowls, and note cards, which can be used as sympathy notes to send when someone’s animal companion has died.
The concept of Books for Animal Lovers is based on a direct mail business Townsend ran in the pre-Internet days of yore. “I was publishing dog, cat and horse books then as well,” she says, “and printed up a monthly catalog offering my titles as well as some select books from other publishers.” That business, though very small, did well, and Townsend loved the interaction with customers, often spending an hour on the phone talking about their beloved pets.
To celebrate the launch, Books for Animal Lovers is offering a free packet of note cards for the month of January to anyone who signs onto the website. The books are all discounted as well, by as much as 20%. And there is no charge for shipping.
Keeping overhead low, and holding a small inventory will allow Books for Animal Lovers to offer good books for low prices. But equally important is the accessibility of the site and the owner. “I’m always grateful to hear of causes that need attention and books that should be offered. I want to hear from readers out there.” Townsend donates quarterly to various organizations or to individual animal causes as needed, and urges her visitors to do the same.
