NPS Youth Summer Learning Adventure: Registration Opens
Shenandoah National Park, VA (PRWEB) April 28, 2016 -- It’s time to get hands-on in Shenandoah! The NatureBridge Summer Field Research Course in Shenandoah National Park has officially launched with lodging provided at Skyland and Big Meadows Lodge. During the five day summer program for high school students, participants can explore Shenandoah National Park and strengthen their understanding of natural history, ecology, and outdoor recreational skills.
With a structured five day itinerary, this program combines science processes with hands-on exploration that will mold students to be strong, inquisitive scientists! Students will spend the first few days exploring the park and formulating research questions, hypotheses, and collecting data with the support of the NatureBridge educators. Following each thrilling research-filled day, students will gather back at the lodges for enriching evening activities and to spend time getting to know their fellow students. Wrapping up with a science presentation to the group of educators, park staff and other students, each student will feel extremely accomplished when they look back on the research project they have completed in just five days!
Still haven’t had enough outdoors? The optional backpacking add-on package will allow campers to extend their trip with a backpacking hike through some of Shenandoah’s most exciting wilderness areas. Whether you’re trying to strengthen your college application, or just getting outdoors to learn more about natural history, the NatureBridge Summer Field Research Course is an exciting way to spend part of your summer. The course will have four different sessions, listed below:
