Number of Financial Jobs Postings Continues to Drop for September, Reports FinancialJobsWeb.com
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 31, 2015 -- FinancialJobsWeb.com, the leading employment website for financial careers, reports a 0.1 percent decrease in the number of job postings to its site for the month of September 2015 compared to the previous month. September marks the second straight month of decreases in the number of available jobs postings, with a 0.05 percent drop reported in August.
The employment website’s decrease in job postings more or less aligns with the lack of growth in the number of financial jobs for September as reported by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday, October 2, 2015. The Economic Situation report revealed a mixture of job losses and gains resulting in an overall lack of growth within the financial activities supersector for the month of September. The supersector continues to sit at 8,154,000 jobs with an unemployment rate of 2.6 percent. Since September 2014, the supersector has added 147,000 jobs with almost half of the reported gains occurring in the insurance carriers and related activities subsector.
The finance and insurance sector reported an overall decrease of 1,300 jobs with losses occurring within the credit intermediation and related activities subsector (-2,200 jobs) and the securities, commodity contracts, investments, and funds and trusts subsector (-900 jobs). Insurance carriers and related activities gained 1,700 jobs, while the monetary authorities subsector only gained 100 jobs.
The real estate and rental and leasing sector reported an overall growth of 1,100 jobs, with gains occurring in real estate (1,700 jobs) and losses in both rental and leasing services (-500 jobs) and lessors of non financial intangible assets (-100 jobs).
Across all industries, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 142,000 jobs in September, while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.1 percent. Over the last 12 months, employment growth has averaged 198,000 jobs per month compared to the monthly average gain of 260,000 in 2014. Job gains in September occurred in health care and information, while employment in mining continued to decline.
