Ohio Department of Administrative Services Awards Greenspace Construction Services With EDGE / MBE Certification
Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) November 01, 2013 -- The Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Equal Opportunity Division, was pleased to award a Letter of Certification to confirm that Greenspace Construction Services is now a participant in Ohio’s Encouraging Diversity, Growth and Equity (EDGE) program as well as Ohio’s Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) program. “We are thrilled to receive these certifications. The opportunity to set ourselves apart in this very competitive construction industry is crucial to the long-term success of our firm,” said Tu Scaparotti, owner of Greenspace Construction Services.
Born in Vietnam, Ms. Scaparotti immigrated to the United States in 1973. With a background in business and finance, Tu launched three successful ongoing enterprises prior to her newest endeavor, Greenspace Construction Services, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio with a regional office in Xenia, Ohio. “I saw an opportunity in the market for a high-quality, woman-owned, minority-owned construction services firm with a focus on sustainability,” said Ms. Scaparotti, “and Greenspace fills that need.”
Greenspace is a professional construction services firm providing a full array of project delivery methods including Construction Management (Agency and At-Risk), Design/Build, and General Contracting. In addition to contracting directly with owners, Ms. Scaparotti foresees opportunities to partner with other firms as well. “Our bench strength and capabilities allows us to partner with architects to provide estimating, scheduling, and document review services. We will form strategic alliances with other CM firms to provide truly qualified staff members to help manage their projects. Finally, due to our ability to self-perform work, we can provide quality general trades work as a subcontractor to other general contractors and help them meet their EDGE and MBE requirements.”
By pursuing the Ohio EDGE and MBE State certifications, Greenspace hopes to benefit from the programs’ mission to advocate and assist on behalf of Ohio's disadvantaged businesses by aligning those businesses with state government contracting and procurement opportunities. “We couldn’t be happier with the trajectory of our firm,” says Ms. Scaparotti, “we now have a diverse portfolio of clients that range from local school districts to a project for Cedar Point, a project for the U.S. Coast Guard in Cleveland and a project for Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. We know these certifications will open up new opportunities for our firm, but our focus is on our clients and our goal is to set the standard of quality for EDGE certified construction firms in the State of Ohio.”
