Spinlister and Race2Rebuild Launch Campaign to Bring Sandy Families Home
Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) September 03, 2014 -- Spinlister, the peer-to-peer global bike share, announced today that leading up to the second anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, they will sponsor a team of Race2Rebuild athletes for the 25th annual NYC Century Bike Tour on September 7th as part of a campaign to bring local families home. Spinlister will contribute 25 cents for each new user who signs up for the bike rental service and $10 for every bike listed to Race2Rebuild’s disaster relief projects when using the promo code “R2R” at http://www.spinlister.com. Additionally, the R2R promo code will save users $10 when renting their next Spinlister bike. Race2Rebuild, the endurance cause racing program founded by athletes after Hurricane Sandy to help families come home, provides athletes with the opportunity to race and then volunteer with national nonprofit Rebuilding Together, meet the family they support and help rebuild their home.
“We are riding the NYC Century Bike Tour with Spinlister to spread the word to all the local families still struggling to get home that we have not forgotten,” said Race2Rebuild’s President Sarah Hartmann. “Our finish line is a safe, strong and healthy home for the thousands of families who are still displaced by Hurricane Sandy.”
The team of 15 athletes includes several of Race2Rebuild’s founders, local pro triathlete Darbi Roberts, and additional athletes who have previously raced for Race2Rebuild in support of their several Hurricane Sandy rebuilding projects. All NYC Century cyclists will have the opportunity to meet Spinlister representatives at the event, set up their bike rental accounts and learn new cost-saving ways to support the cause.
“We are excited to team up with Race2Rebuild to help raise money for such an incredible cause,” said Spinlister Chief Marketing Officer, Andrew Batey. “Race2Rebuild has an impeccable track record of athletes not only raising money, but also personally and physically helping rebuild homes for the very people they are racing to help. We hope every family still waiting to return home knows they have not been forgotten.”
Spinlister is encouraging triathletes and cyclists to join and list their bikes at Spinlister.com/list using the promo code R2R to support Race2Rebuild’s disaster relief projects, to make money, and to help fellow athletes in need of a bike. All bikes are insured up to $10,000 against theft or damage.
