STW Releases In-Depth Training Video on Off-Highway Telematics Ahead of OTC 2014
Norcross, Ga (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- STW Technic, a premier manufacturer of mobile controllers and measurement technology, today announced the release of a new training video on Telematics solutions for the off-highway industry. The video is targeted towards engineers working with off-highway vehicles and installations and comes ahead of OTC 2014.
The video is a comprehensive overview of both the hardware and software aspects of STW’s Telematics solutions with a special emphasis on STW’s ‘Vehicle Data System’. The innovative Vehicle Data System (VDS) provides a rich set of libraries and out-of-the-box applications for off-highway engineers to build custom telematics solutions for their needs, leveraging STW’s robust, off-highway rated telematics hardware. More information on the off-highway Vehicle Data System can be found at http://www.stw-technic.com/products/teleservice/vehicle-data-system/.
The video starts with key features of the hardware aspects of telematics such as form factors available (internal or external antennas), cellular, GPS/Glonass and wireless options, and off-highway ratings.
It then covers all of the configuration and operational options of VDS for their off-highway application, including data collection (J1939, CAN freestyle, etc.) from CAN buses, event-based and scheduled logging, and real-time monitoring with a fully configurable variety of gauges and meters. It also covers important auxiliary functions of the telematics modules such as file transfer, over-the-air (OTA) software updates, logo customization and system help. All configuration and operation is facilitated through web applications.
The addition of the new video follows STW’s highly successful launch of complimentary online training videos for engineers working with CANbus in the CoDeSys development environment for off-highway controllers.
Engineers can register on the STW website at http://www.stw-technic.com/video/ to watch the videos.
The initial series of videos covered typical configuration, development and troubleshooting questions that engineers have in using CANbus controllers with KEFEX Winflash or the 3S development environment CoDeSys. Topics include configuration, operation and gateway login. There is also a separate video that covers common problems in the set-up of CoDeSys V3. The videos are between 5 to 15 minutes long.
Says Bob Geiger, President, STW, “We have had great feedback on our training videos from the STW community. Telematics is an innovative and growing field in our industry and we are proud to provide resources for engineers on the topic through videos and our website."
The video website will be frequently updated based on feedback from the community. The company invites engineers to use the ‘Ask Us’ or ‘Contact Us’ sections of the website to provide feedback and suggestions on topics they would like to see covered. (http://www.stw-technic.com/contact-us/)
The videos are part of a larger effort by STW to share resources and best practices with the engineering community. The resources leverage STW’s many years of experience in working with a wide array of industry leaders in mining, agriculture, construction, oil and gas and transportation, and include industry specific papers around off-highway controls technology and telematics.
It also comes ahead of the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, May 5-8. STW will be showcasing their telematics solutions for the off-highway industry at OTC at booth 11119. More information is available at: http://www.stw-technic.com/company/news-and-events/otc-2014/.
