Suzanne Ashton Participates in San Francisco Business Journal's Inaugural BizWomen Mentoring Monday
(PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- Suzanne Ashton, Chairwoman at TPG, joined over 40 successful business women in several rounds of four minute speed-mentoring sessions where attendees asked questions and sought career advice from some of the region's top female business leaders. When asked about the event, Suzanne admitted that she was struck by the number of women in their 40’s and 50’s who were looking to switch careers. “Many of these women seemed nervous to make a change,” she explained. “So I advised them to write down a mission statement outlining their goals and values before starting the networking process.” She then went on to explain how a good declaration of purpose can bring clarity and confidence to job searches and subsequent interviews.
Suzanne’s second major audience was with budding entrepreneurs. One woman had just started a company that specialized in workplace design, and she was looking for ways to increase sales. During their one-on-one meeting, Suzanne encouraged the new business owner to boost her weekly marketing efforts and network more with strategic partners. Suzanne recently received a thank you note from the woman explaining how her advice was right on the money.
In closing, Suzanne said she thought the event was a success, and she offered some advice to future attendees. “Come prepared,” she urged, “the women who had written down focused questions got the most out of the event.”
