“Music has always played a vital role in the human experience -- to express feelings, to educate or protest, to transform, to celebrate,” said Schatz. “Traditional music and dance brings people together and creates a sense of community in a powerful way, raises spirits, inspires joy and provides a creative outlet for participants at any level.”
Footworks is comprised of an ensemble of six highly trained dancers and four musicians including Musical Director Mark Schatz. Schatz has received numerous awards performing and recording acoustic music. In 2011 the Schatz’s received a Grammy Nomination for their work on "Memories of John" -- a tribute to the late, great fiddler John Hartford – on the Compass Records label.
