The Bioenergy Industry In The Eight Counties Surrounding Webster County In Iowa Is The Focus Of A Regional Economic Impact Study.
Fort Dodge, IA (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- The study was recently commissioned by WCCTA and 12 other organizations to estimate the impact of the attraction of additional companies to the eight-county economic area as well as to estimate the construction and operations related to bioenergy industry development at the Iowa Crossroads of Global Innovation agricultural park outside of Fort Dodge, IA. The Iowa counties included in the eight-county region are Boone, Calhoun, Green, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster and Wright.
The organizations that commissioned the survey include the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, Webster Calhoun Cooperative Telephone Association, Farm Bureau (Webster County), Iowa Central Community College, MidAmerican Energy, Ripple Funds (Iowa Area Development Group), Corn Belt Power Cooperative, City of Webster City, Prairie Energy Cooperative, Calhoun County REC, Midland Power Cooperative, Humboldt County Development Association and Corn Investment Corporation was prepared by Dr. Ernie Goss of Goss & Associates, Economic Solutions, LLC.
The eight-county region has proven to be one of the most suitable areas in the U.S. for hosting and supporting bioenergy industries according to the survey. The industry has developed into an engine of economic growth for the region over the past several years. The region has seen bioenergy firms are encouraging relocation along with start-up of manufacturing, wholesale, retail, construction and other industries to all eight of the counties in the study. At the same time, bioenergy is also a major contributor to research and development spending in this same region.
"Webster Calhoun Cooperative Telephone Association (WCCTA) is very supportive of this study as it assists us in planning for the future telecommunication needs of industrial growth, workforce and expanding housing in the communities we serve." according to Marcie Boerner, Office Manager of WCCTA.
