The Performance Institute Hosts National Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN) Event
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) November 14, 2014 -- This week, The Performance Institute (PI) hosted Edward Parkinson, Director of Government Affairs, First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) and other leaders and members of the national security, public safety, and emergency-response community to discuss how to prepare for the public safety broadband network.
John Santo, PI Fellow, National Public Safety Broadband Network, moderated the first of three public policy forums on this mission-critical topic. The morning roundtable included the following panelists: Rear Admiral Robert E. Day Jr. (retired), Former Assistant Commandant for C4IT and Commander, Coast Guard Cyber Command, U.S. Coast Guard; Mr. Ray Lehr, Maryland's Interoperability Director; and Mr. Jamie Barnett, Partner, Venable LLP, Rear Admiral USNR (retired) and former Chief of the FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau. “The Performance Institute is proud to be a part of the NPSBN community of dedicated professionals from federal, state, and local government agencies who are proactive, involved, and leading the transition to public safety broadband,” says Diane Denholm, PI’s Executive Director. “As we continue to build upon our rich history of providing strategic planning, performance measurement, and management leadership, it is a privilege to be a part of helping build a community to address important mission-critical public policy topics such as the National Public Safety Broadband Network.”
On Wednesday, the NPSBN community came together for the initial policy forum entitled “Are you prepared for the National Public Safety Broadband Network?” to discuss such topics as the benefits of early adoption; building a road map for finance, technology, and architecture; and organizational strategies. PI will host two additional policy forums in 2015. The March 25, 2015 session will focus on architecture, engineering, and systems security strategies and practices that can be applied when an organization transitions from current communications environments to the NPSBN. On June 24, 2015 the session will cover strategies, methods, and practices that can be used to help mission-critical operations transition to NPSBN.
