Walnut Creek, CA (PRWEB) November 20, 2014 -- Backed by an Advisory Board of over 20 Veterans who represent all of the branches of the military, VS Beverages, Inc. has launched its first product Veterans’ Spirit GallantFew Proprietary Red Wine. $1 from every bottle sold will benefit GallantFew, a revolutionary Veteran support network.
Veterans’ Spirit GallantFew Proprietary Red wine is made by people who care about Veterans and want to help them successfully transition from military to civilian life. The team is dedicated to giving back to the men and women who have served this country. VS Beverages, Inc. is also committed to hiring Veterans in making Veterans’ Spirit wines whenever possible: from vineyard to production, through distribution, marketing and sales. The pride they have in Veterans is matched by the pride they have in their wine. "The wine attempts to reflect the spirit, honor and distinction of our country’s Veterans for whom this wine was crafted," said founder Jill Osur. The wine has aromas of bing cherry, espresso and cocoa powder with flavors of mocha, wild berries and black pepper. The aromatics and flavors are quite complex and evolve beautifully over time in the glass. Very difficult to describe…but very easy to enjoy.
The idea for Veterans’ Spirit began in early 2012 when founder Jill Osur was a mentor for Operation Hand Salute, a program sponsored by John F Kennedy University’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership and AT&T to help service-disabled Veterans. This initiative serves to mentor a select group of Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBEs) towards improving their business operations and enhancing their ability to win corporate contracts. Osur developed some strong relationships with the Veterans in the program, and when she learned that 22 Veterans commit suicide every day, and that this number represented a larger number than active service members who die in combat daily, Ms. Osur wanted to be part of the solution in helping Veterans transition from military to civilian life. “I knew I had to be part of the solution in helping Veterans get the services and support they need. I owe my freedom to the men and women who serve and who have served in the armed forces. I created a company that reflects my core belief of doing well by doing good. Consumers can take pride in knowing that their purchase will make a difference in the life of a Veteran.”
Osur knew to make this a reality that she needed to get Veterans involved in the business. She reached out to friend Tim Abel, Army Ranger Veteran and host of the Outdoor Channel’s show Grateful Nation for help. “I shared my vision of helping Veterans and building a transparent business, and Tim introduced me to an amazing group of Veterans and charities, including Purple Heart Veteran, Michael Schlitz, who has now become our Director of Veteran’s Affairs.” Mr. Schlitz works with the Advisory Board to select the charities that the brand will support and will also lead efforts to identify Veterans for employment as the business grows. “We need companies like Veterans’ Spirit that are stepping up and helping support Veterans. Their donation of $1 from every bottle sold to GallantFew will make a huge difference in the lives of our nations’ finest,” said Schlitz.
Veterans’ Spirit GallantFew Proprietary Red Wine retails for $14.99 and is available at select restaurants and retailers. Veterans’ Spirit will launch a Chardonnay and Cabernet early next year. Veterans’ Spirit brands are distributed by Zeal Wine Group, an emerging California wine distribution company that employs Veterans.
About GallantFew: GallantFew’s goal is to connect every new Veteran with a hometown Veteran mentor. The purpose is to help each Veteran achieve a smooth, peaceful and successful transition, thereby preventing veteran unemployment, homelessness and suicide. They do this by creating and supporting a nationwide network of successfully transitioned Veterans who engage locally with new Veterans with the same military background now going through transition.
