Thomas J. Burns, Ph.D., Joins ENSCO, Inc. as President and Chief Executive Officer
Falls Church, VA (PRWEB) June 17, 2014 -- ENSCO, Inc. has named Thomas J. Burns, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 30. Burns will succeed retiring President and Chief Executive Officer Gregory Young.
Burns brings a broad range of technical, management and customer engagement experience in the federal government as well as commercial and international sectors.

Burns most recently served as Senior Vice President and Manager of Science Applications International Corporation’s (SAIC) Sensors and Phenomenology Operation, where he was responsible for more than 900 employees and $300 million in research and development, system solutions, and products business.
Burns stayed with SAIC after they acquired Science, Engineering, and Technology (SET) Corporation, an R&D and product business he co-founded and led as President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board. Prior to co-founding SET, Burns co-founded ObjectVideo, a leader in the video analytics industry, after serving as a Program Manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Burns received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Science and doctorate in electrical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He holds patents on video and radar technology. He serves on a number of government advisory, academic, and corporate boards, and has a strong and active interest in STEM initiatives with charitable and educational institutions at all levels.
