Der Tiergarten relates experiences of Roger Williams (the pseudonym of Fredric Godshll) who grew up in the culture of small town America but matured into a combatant in the Cold War. His narration of experiences and realizations portray the zeitgeist, the spirit of that time in Berlin, as he served allied military commands of occupation in divided Germany.
