Visit My Smokies Announces Big Changes on Pigeon Forge Parkway This Summer
Pigeon Forge, Tenn. (PRWEB) July 02, 2013 -- Guests returning to the Smoky Mountains for another summer of fun and relaxation may notice a few changes on the Pigeon Forge Parkway as they drive in. To help visitors keep track of the ever-expanding amusements in the area, Visit My Smokies compiled a list of the new must-see attractions and shows in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
“One of the things we love about this area is that there is always a new show to see, or a new attraction for families to enjoy,” said a spokesperson for Visit My Smokies. “We wanted to make it as easy as possible for families planning their next vacation to experience all the fun and excitement the Pigeon Forge Parkway has to offer.”
The biggest change visitors will notice on the Pigeon Forge Parkway this summer is the new Great Smoky Mountain Wheel at the Island in Pigeon Forge. Measuring 200-feet tall, the wheel is the centerpiece to the many new restaurants, shops and amusements that make up the Island in Pigeon Forge.
The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel takes riders in a climate-controlled, all-glass gondola for a rotating scenic tour of the beautiful mountain scenery. From atop the wheel, guests can see many famous landmarks along the Pigeon Forge Parkway like The Track, The Forge Cinemas and the Leconte Center, the newest events center in Pigeon Forge.
According to Visit My Smokies, another big change on the Pigeon Forge Parkway guests will be happy to see is the new Bob Nelson Theater show in Pigeon Forge. Showcasing the family-friendly comedy of Bob Nelson, the theater offers guests shows six nights a week, with a matinee show on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Other big changes to the area just off the Pigeon Forge Parkway include exciting new shows at Dollywood. Crafted by Ms. Parton herself, the ‘My People’ Show and Great American Country Show in Pigeon Forge offer visitors an exciting journey through the people and music that inspired Dolly the most.
Visit My Smokies is also excited to introduce the newest edition to the Dollywood family at Dollywood’s Splash Country. The first water coaster in Tennessee, RiverRush, takes guests on a rip-roaring ride through twists, turns and even a few drops with hydromagnetic technology.
