Southern Comedy “Crackerjack The Movie" to Premiere September 12 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- Art Within Productions and Modest are proud to present “Crackerjack,” a heartwarming Southern comedy of one man’s journey down the road less graveled. The world premiere will be September 12 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and will launch the “The Crackerjack Road Less Graveled Movie Tour.”
In the off-beat style of “Napoleon Dynamite”, this Southern tale, told by executive producer, Jeff Foxworthy follows the comical missteps of a lovable loser, Bill “Crackerjack” Bailey IV (CJ). He and his live-in girlfriend Sherry share a single-wide and while CJ won’t put a diamond on Sherry’s finger, a softball diamond is certainly his drug of choice. However, when Sherry learns she’s pregnant and moves out to nudge CJ into action, the real root of CJ’s artful dodging comes into play: a curse that leads Bailey men to become absent as soon as a baby becomes present. Faced with losing his true love or confronting the curse and his impending fatherhood, CJ does what many men would do. He plays ball!
"This film reflects everything I love about the South," says writer and director Bryan Coley. "From boiled peanut signs to gas stations that sell fireworks to church league softball — and our narrator, Jeff Foxworthy, that’s not a bad recipe for good-time entertainment."
The September 12 premiere will also kickoff of “The ‘Crackerjack’ Road Less Graveled Movie Tour,” where Coley, select cast members and producers will travel via a 1974 Airstream trailer wrapped with the “Crackerjack logo” and art to roll the film out in a staggered, state-by-state fashion across mid-sized markets in the South. “These days as quirky independent films like “Crackerjack” do not have the budgets to compete with blockbuster movies and their 3D counterparts, the film will be delivered off the beaten path, to “roads less graveled,” to the audiences who would appreciate the film the most,” says Coley. The Carolinas and Georgia are the first stops.
This film is led by a cast including, including Wes Murphy (as CJ), the late Rick Dial (as Pastor Shelby), Bethany Lind (as Sherry), L. Warren Young (as Paul), Dowd Keith Simpson (as Glo), Aaron Beelner (as Bucky) and Phillip DeVona (as Boomer). “Crackerjack The Movie” is distributed by Rocky Mountain Pictures and is rated PG-13.
