"My entire spiritual life, I have longed to come away from High Holiday services feelings something profound. The Sanctuary at Pico Union services give me that and so much more,” commented Mara Z, a Sanctuary participant.
Founded in 2013 by visionary musician and community organizer Craig Taubman, the Pico Union Project is a multicultural space that is founded on the principle “to love your neighbor as you wish to be loved.” In addition to being home to 4 different faith communities and a premier concert venue, the Pico Union Project provides programming for local neighbors such as Tree Planting, classes in art, nutrition, and cooking alongside fresh produce giveaways.
“I am excited to help create a high holiday service that is creative, joyful, open and impactful. One that uses the ancient Jewish and spiritual wisdom of our liturgy and finds where it intersects within our lives today,” said Rabbi Tova Leibovic-Douglas.
The Sanctuary @ Pico Union strives to be a community with open doors and has created a pricing structure that is affordable and accessible.
