Patricia Friend is a full-time postal worker and California who has lived with a mental illness since her twenties, when she was the victim of an assault, and now enjoys Bible college and hopes one day to become a trauma counselor for a church. She has published her new book “Believe It or Not I’m a Christian”: a candid memoir of the many obstacles she had overcome over the course of her life journey.
The author shares, “There are, at times, a great deal of hurting in a person’s life. At these times, people are in so much grief and suffering. It takes a lot of understanding from others in order for the healing process to take effect. What happens when there is no one or any understanding from others? People in these circumstances are all alone and have great pain. When do the trials stop, or how do things get better? Sometimes in our lives we have to push through and never give up on life and on others in our lives. There is hope in the most difficult trials of life, but we have to look for it. To push through a hard thing is possible and happens on many occasions with people in hard places in their lives.
I have learned that with God all things are possible, and that healing does happen. It is possible to be healed and to become a whole person inside yourself. I was healed with God’s help, and so can anyone if they put their trust in him.
Hope for a person is just a prayer away.”
