“PK’s Parables”: a winning memoir of a pastor’s son. “PK’s Parables” is the creation of published author Gerald Thomas Hopkins, a retired ordained minister and founding pastor of the interdenominational church and Christian school, New Life Christian Fellowship, Greenville, South Carolina; he is a father and grandfather.

Hopkins shares, “Humorous but true, there were some baptismal candidates in those days who met a less fortunate fate in that old river. Remember the drop-off channel? One minister (I’m not sure it was Dad) was baptizing someone; I believe she was quite a stout lady. Anyway, the minister was standing close to the edge of the drop-off, and when he started putting her under, both baptizer and baptizee fell off into the deep water and had to swim back out. Maybe that lady just needed a little more water than the rest of us.

Just before each baptismal service, all who gathered would break out into singing, ‘Shall we gather at the river . . . ?’ Yes, we shall, for time and eternity.
‘Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost . . .’ (Jesus).”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Gerald Thomas Hopkins’s new book is a unique peek into the emotional and spiritual life of a pastor’s son in the formative years of his life.

Filled with photographs, illustrations, and poetry from these influential years, Hopkins provides a rich backdrop to trace how the Spirit has moved throughout his life.
