LIVINGSTON, N.J., Jan. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Ilene B. Price (http://ilenepricedesign.com), author of "The ABC's of Non-Consent," recently participated in GBK's 2019 Golden Globes Luxury Celebrity Gift Lounge, where she gifted copies of the 40-page, short illustrated poem to celebrities, VIPs and select members of the press stopping by The Artisan Group® exhibit.
The Gift Lounge took place January 4-5, 2019 at the L'Hermitage Hotel Beverly Hills, California. Attendees included Viola Davis, Angela Bassett, Danny Huston, director Joe Russo, Golden Globe nominee Spike Lee, Matilda Szydagis (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Danielle Macdonald, Luke Benward and Odeya Rush of Netflix's breakout hit Dumplin', and many others.
"The ABC's of Non-Consent" is intended to be used by parents, educators and counselors as a tool to help prompt discussion about what is, and what is not consent, using examples and scenarios that a teenager or young adult may find themselves in.
Ilene is best known for her whimsical watercolor and ink mandalas. When her daughter was about to start college, she began therapeutically jotting down her thoughts and fears and somehow, unplanned, her scribblings and doodles evolved into an educational book on consent. Her hope is that this book can help other parents speak to their kids, of all genders, about this important subject, starting as early as middle school.
In October, The Harvard Independent, Harvard's weekly student newspaper since 1969, gave a positive review of "The ABC's of Non-Consent," explaining the importance and the need to talk about rape culture in today's world.
The national organization Character.org asked Ilene to write a guest blog post about respecting others in relation to her book and teaching consent to young people, where she noted, "It comes down to respect; respect for other people and respect for yourself. No one should ever make someone else feel fearful, forced or threatened," Ilene noted in a recent blog post.
