New Book "On Resistance: And the Expansion of We the People's Civil Rights in America" Provides New Look on Patriotism in America
Reuben B. Collins, II, Esq. published his second book, "On Resistance: And the Expansion of We the People's Civil Rights in America," earlier this year. Through a series of essays authored by Collins, this book offers a different perspective on American patriotism and how it's viewed in society.
BRYANS ROAD, Md., July 13, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "In the American society, we think of patriotism as selfless acts of valor on the battlefield, but I believe true patriotism is much broader than that. In this book, I offer a new definition of patriotism that highlights the voice of opposition and activism," said Collins.
Written with lawyers, public policy officials, historians and those that embrace an expanded view of the origins of the United States ethos in mind, On Resistance presents a different angle of American democracy -- one that credits opposition within the nation's history as the primary source of developing democracy. Readers of this book will see the "radical democratic tradition" became the catalyst for shifting the country beyond the preservation of fundamental "property rights" to upholding the basic civil rights of the nation's citizens.
"This conglomeration of essays takes a very unique position on the definition of patriotism, using the Black Panther Party for Self Defense as the highlighted group model. The book also discusses potential amendments to the United States Constitution," Collins commented. "This book matters to those who are committed to the development of a truly democratic American society."
The book, published by Page Publishing, Inc. and registered with Ingram Content Group, can be purchased through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
