STATUES.COM will launch a New Crowdfunding Campaign called "Where Are The Women? Shaping Women's History Through Sculpture" on August 2nd
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (PRWEB) July 27, 2018 -- STATUES.com is set to live-launch a Kickstarter campaign on Aug. 2 to bolster public recognition of trailblazing women in American history by creating a first-of-its-kind 20-piece sculptural bust collection.
The “Where are the Women? Shaping Women’s History Through Sculpture” event will take place at the Impact Hub in Salt Lake City from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The first three sculptural busts of the collection will be unveiled, including Susan B. Anthony, Juliette Gordon Low and Ida B. Wells.
Additionally, a panel of experts moderated by Lara Jones of KRCL will address female visibility both past and present including Pat Bagley, editorial cartoonist and journalist for the Salt Lake Tribune, Alison Ludlow Adams, a student who created a provocative women’s art project at Brigham Young University, Sarah Sinwell, film and media professor at the University of Utah and Robyn Cohen, director of community and operations at Impact Hub.

The Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Art Inventories Catalog has estimated that out of 5,200 public statues in the U.S. depicting historical figures, less than 400 are of women - many of which are nameless and allegorical in nature. The campaign aims to create 20 gift-sized sculptural busts of trailblazing women in American history by 2020, marking the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote.
“For more than forty years, our family has played a key role in shaping history through sculpture,” said Karpos. “Recognizing the gender gap within our own industry, we decided now was the time to create a special collection highlighting the extraordinary women in America who have fought diligently for the rights of all.”
From politics to science to education, the new collection will feature 7-inch tall busts of women from the 19th and 20th centuries whose courageous voices and actions paved the road to equality and social change. Once in production, the sculptural busts will be similar to others that the company feature at the Smithsonian, National Parks and other museum gift shops across the country, including Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, Ben Franklin, Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, Martin Luther King and many more.
